It's a Bow Thing

Ok.. here is the deal. Yes, Emily wears a hair bow every day. She even wears them to sleep. There are a few reasons for this. First, I am the mother of two sons and a baby daughter. When I was pregnant with both of the boys I just knew that they were girls. It suprised me each time when we found out that they had "parts". When they were small I dressed them as much as I could in smocked or pretty boy clothes. Christian hated it. I loved it. I usually won on Sundays. He won every other day of the week. I hate to say this... but I even dressed the boys up in dresses and bows for one picture when they were small. I wanted to see what they would look like if they were girls. ( Sick I know!) You can imagine Christian's reaction when I got the pictures developed. He told me that if we ever had a girl that I could doll her up as much as I wanted to. He just wanted me to leave our boys alone. So along came Emily Grace. From the moment she was born she has been wearing dresses, bows and jewelry. As I write this post she is dressed up in a red and white smocked bubble with frogs on the front. She is wearing a BIG red bow on her head and a silver teddy bear charm braclet( Thanks to Mimi!) My boys are still running around in their super hero PJ's. Caleb is Superman and Carson is Batman. My boys didn't even know what a hairbow was until Emily was born. Every now and then I catch Caleb in Emily's drawer getting a bow or even putting one on. It is just so new for him. As you can imagine Christian hates it. I think it is funny. I have added a picture of Caleb to this post. He is showing off a new look.
The other reason Emily always wears a bow is that we are training her to wear them. I don't want it to be an issue with her trying to pull it out of her hair. When the boys were born I started them off with socks and shoes. They were too cute in the hospital wearing their pretty boy outfits with matching socks and shoes. When we go anywhere now they just know that socks and shoes are required. (It just makes my skin crawl to see kids out in public without any shoes.) Anyway.. I love the bow look. She will always wear them. That is that! Later in life if Emily hates the bow... she will still wear it!

For all of you bow haters.... I am sorry to say they are here to stay. Christian's motto is "The bigger the better!!!" I have trained him well. Here is a picture of Emily and her Dadddy. Notice the pretty pink bow. It just makes her look all that more girly! I hope all of this clears up the bow thing!

Hello-
I found your blog through Melissa's!. I believe we graduated the same year and were in the youth group at FBC together. I know my husband and your husband were good friends in highschool (Charlie Taylor). Anyway I just wanted to let you know I totally understand the "Bow Thing!". After three boys we finally got our little girl! and you better believe it she wears bows, jewelry, smocked dresses, monogrammed outfits.....anything and everything girly!, it's GREAT!!

Enjoy your kids, at one point I had three kids under the age of three and I almost ran away (LOL!). Now our oldest is 11 years old and our youngest is 3 years old. Time goes by so fast.
